In its primary state, enamel is a glassy material closer to crystal than glass.

The enameller's art consists of fixing the powdered enamel on its metal base (gold, silver, or copper) with series of short firings at a temperature hovering around 900° C.

The powdered enamel are applied with a spatula.

Thin gold or silver foil can be dipped into enamel to make the colours more shining.

Come and meet a thousand-year-old craft, the artistic enameller on metals, and discover our original and contemporary creations in grand feu enamel. Enamel, this noble material, will not leave you indifferent and you will not be able to resist the flamboyance of our jewelery and our contemporary decorative pieces. Workshop "Les émaux Arédiens"

Behind the artisanal workshop "Les émaux Arédiens", hides an enameller with a CAP d'enameller d'art on metals. Since 2012, the workshop has been located in the heart of a region with a great tradition of enamelling on copper: "Limoges, Capital of Fire Arts" and labeled "Creative City" by UNESCO and more particularly in Saint Yrieix La Perche . Through her job as an enameller, Laetitia Bonneaud experiments, evolves and innovates in the alchemy of the fires of enamel on metal. She works this crushed crystal, the enamel, by associating it with copper, silver and sometimes gold. His "Limoges enamels" come in a variety of shapes: Jewellery, Triptychs, 3D Paintings, Shaped Pieces. Laetitia plays with light, explores volumes and seeks the finesse and depth of grand feu enamels without forgetting age-old know-how. Thus, she walks in this very vast enamel art which offers an abundance of creativity and flamboyant and incomparable artistic renderings.

EXHIBITION - PARALLAX ART FAIR - October 22, 23 - LONDON

The Art of Enamels on Metals, a unique craft.

The Art of Enamels on Metals is a History of Fires that has lasted for millennia in Limoges and its surroundings. At high temperature (around 850°) the metal support (Copper, Silver or Gold) and the enamel powder, a crushed crystal, which brings color are shaped. Enamels are also a Story of Light avec with particular colors, depth and a lot of brillance. All these Stories speak of Passion, Inventions and Know- how.

''Les émaux Arédiens'' the practice of ancestral techniques but also by developing new and modern techniques. The enamel in 3 Dimensions used for the manufacture of your unique piece is an innovative technique specific to the Art Workshop ''Les émaux Arédiens''. It is characterized by enamel on several levels associated without glue or screws but by the fires. This concept is registered with INPI.

The first stage of the consist to prepare the copper, to cut it using a manual jeweler's scle, to hammer it and to build the different levels of the 3D effect. Then a first phase of enameling is carried out on the multiple pieces that make up the creation. Often thin sheets of silver called pallons are deposited and fixed in the oven on certain elements to accentuate the luminosity of the enamels. Then comes the outline of the drawing which is done with pen and brushes. Finally comes the phase (s) of enamelling with a color spatula, most often translucent or transparent in order to let the design reappear after cooking. These enamels, which can be opaque, translucent or opal, mostly come from the unique Cristallerie of FRANCE located near LIMOGES. The enamel can also sometimes be enhanced with vitrifiable paints. Finally, the association of the levels of enamel in 3D is done under the fire without any screws or glue, it is a complex step due in particular to the different levels of metal. The work stages and the successive firings are numerous (around ten) and make it an Art of Fire which requires a lot of meticulousness, dexterity, precision and specific know-how. The working time is also very important to finalize a creation in addition to the care that must be taken in grinding and cleaning the translucent enamels as well as in each of the manufacturing stages.

''Les émaux Arédiens'' wish to arouse curiosity and emotions through their original, contemporary enamel creations in deep and flamboyant colors !
